Soloc Magnetic Buckle
Soloc is the worlds first single handed lap belt designed for wheelchair users that struggle using both hands or are lacking hand coordination.
Soloc Magnetic Buckle - Feature List
- 75,000 people in the UK only have the use of one arm
- People with both hands but lack coordination with fine tasks also struggle with belts
- People who cannot use a conventional buckle often rely on others for support
- In trials Soloc improved the users confidence, mobility and feelings of independence
An effective buckle is paramount to wheelchair safety, but many users find they cannot use a belt and buckle without requiring assistance.
Soloc solves that issue as the two parts of the belt are pulled together automatically using a series of magnets inside the unit. Users only have to get the two halves of the belt reasonably close for them to snap together, meaning the whole process can be done with only one hand. Once the buckle is locked in, it can be adjusted and also released using easy-to-grip loops, perfect for those with lower coordination.
